Welcome to our Organization's Website!
Neighbors for a Livable Community (NLC) seeks to coordinate the efforts of neighbors surrounding the campus of American University to resist construction and programs that will have an adverse impact on the residents’ enjoyment of their homes. NLC works closely with the Spring Valley-Wesley Heights Citizens Association, the Westover Place Homeowners Association, the Fort Gaines Citizens Association, and other neighborhood groups.
NLC was formed by concerned neighbors of AU in 1988, and has sought to protect these quiet, long-established residential communities from degradation due to excessive campus population, noise, traffic, and other objectionable conditions. It assists the neighborhood groups to coordinate their positions and with them advocates before the DC zoning authorities.
